WET weather over the weekend forced the Bellarine Historic Vehicle Club to postpone their annual event.<\/p>\n
The club’s Static Vehicle Display was scheduled to take place at Customs Lawn on Sunday, with heavy rainfall in the days leading up to the event causing it to be called off.<\/p>\n
About 12 cars of all different makes and models were ready to participate before the decision was made.<\/p>\n
As one of the only events allowed to take place on the lawn, the major concern was what the cars would do to the venue and the state it would be left in.<\/p>\n
Bellarine Historic Vehicle Club president Jan Clissold said it was disappointing to postpone, however they did not want to destroy the grounds of Customs Lawn.<\/p>\n
“If we put any cars on that, and they’re heavy, it would have been diabolical. It would have been a mess and we couldn’t do that.<\/p>\n
“The decision was made on Friday night because of how much rain there was and how much more was coming on Saturday.<\/p>\n
“It was decided it wasn’t worth taking the cars out, there was three cars who had already pulled out because of the weather.”<\/p>\n
The club is working closely with the City of Greater Geelong to organise a new date to hold the vehicle display, likely to take place at the start of next year.<\/p>\n
Ms Clissold said the city was very grateful and appreciative the club had made the decision to reschedule.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
