MORE than 200 “hairy men” have raised more than $60,000 for men’s health at the 19th annual Gentlemen of Geelong event.<\/p>\n

The event at Flying Brick Cider House brought men together from across the country to help raise awareness of men’s health and suicide.<\/p>\n

Guest speakers included recently retired Geelong Cats legend Tom Hawkins, founder of agricultural men’s health movement ‘Are You Bogged Mate?’ Mary O’Brien, and event MC Ian Cover.<\/p>\n

Meals were provided by Flying Brick Cider House and delivered by the organising committees’ wives and friends.<\/p>\n

A display of the latest Rex Gorrell Group BMW Motorbikes and vehicles was also out on the lawn for all to enjoy.<\/p>\n

Event co-organiser David Sharp said the team was thrilled with the day and the funds generated.<\/p>\n

“To raise over $60,000 for a second straight year was superb.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

“We had some good speakers, and everyone was very jolly in the good weather.<\/p>\n

“Mary [O’Brien] in particular was fantastic in her delivery. Everyone carries around heaps of [mental health] burden but she outlined some great ways to deal with it.<\/span><\/p>\n

“A huge thanks to all for their support.”
\nAll funds raised will go towards charities such as the National Centre for Farmer Health, Lifeline, Movember Foundation, Australian Prostate Centre, Barwon Health, Beyond Blue, RUOK, Aussie Helpers and International Association for Suicide Prevention.
\nAre You Bogged Mate? will also be the beneficiary of $10,000.<\/p>\n
