{"id":9724,"date":"2018-05-02T07:50:05","date_gmt":"2018-05-02T07:50:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=9724"},"modified":"2018-05-14T08:07:21","modified_gmt":"2018-05-14T08:07:21","slug":"deaking-vice-chancellor-to-speak-at-breakfast-event","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/living\/deaking-vice-chancellor-to-speak-at-breakfast-event\/","title":{"rendered":"Deaking vice-chancellor to speak at breakfast event"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>OUTGOING Deakin University vice-chancellor Professor Jane den Hollander will be the guest speaker at Entrepreneurs Geelong\u2019s next breakfast event, to be held in Geelong tomorrow (Friday, May 4).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Appointed vice-chancellor of Deakin in July 2010, Professor den Hollander introduced \u201cLIVE the future\u201d, an aspiration for the university to drive the digital frontier in higher education, harnessing the power, opportunity and reach of new and emerging technologies in all that it does.<\/p>\n<p>She holds a BSc (honours) first class in zoology and a master of science degree from Wits University, Johannesburg, and her PhD is from the University of Wales, Cardiff.<\/p>\n<p>Professor den Hollander is a board member of Education Australia Limited and UniSuper Limited. She is trustee and deputy chair of the Geelong Performing Arts Council, chair of Skilling the Bay, a member of the Kardinia Park Trust and a member of the VERNet Board (Victorian Education and Research Network).<\/p>\n<p>Before becoming Deakin\u2019s vicechancellor, she was deputy vicechancellor (academic) at Curtin University in Western Australia.<\/p>\n<p>Professor den Hollander received an Order of Australia for her distinguished service to tertiary education in the 2017 Australia Day Honours awards.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, she announced she would retire at the end of her second term as Deakin vice-chancellor on or before June 30, 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The Entrepreneurs Geelong event will be held at the Australia Post Small Business Hive, 108 Gheringhap Street, Geelong, tomorrow (Friday, May 4) from 7-9am.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets are $25.
