THOUSANDS of volumes will fill the St. James Anglican Church in Drysdale next week as the annual book sale returns.<\/p>\n

From Thursday, January 2 to January 4, books of all genres will be up for grabs including war, sport, Australiana, travel, biographies, health and more.<\/p>\n

Reverend David Willsher said although the event was a fundraiser for the church, it was also a great service to the community.<\/p>\n

“All of these are second-hand donated books, it’s really recycling and it is raising funds, but it’s helping the environment with the generous donations from a wide range of people.<\/p>\n

“We’re all helping the environment together but you get some really high-quality cheap books from current authors.”<\/p>\n

Running for the past 25 years, the book sale is one of the church’s biggest events of the year, attracting people from across Victoria.<\/p>\n

“A lot of people know and expect it to happen, it’s really well known with book dealers, but really accessible for the general public and particularly for some reading over the holiday people.”<\/p>\n

Reverend Willsher estimated about 15,000 books will be available across the three-day event, all sorted into categories to make shopping easier.<\/p>\n

“Because we’ve got so many books, we’re restocking the tables and everything all the time, if someone came Thursday morning and then they came Friday night, they’ll be new books here they haven’t seen yet,” he said.<\/p>\n

“We’ve got a little team here that works the whole year through, sorting, cleaning, pricing and everything, we want to give thanks to those who make the donations but also our team.”<\/p>\n

A whole room of children’s books will also be included, which have been sorted separately.<\/p>\n

The book sale will run from 9am each day.<\/p>\n
