{"id":9815,"date":"2018-05-09T07:52:58","date_gmt":"2018-05-09T07:52:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=9815"},"modified":"2018-05-11T08:49:49","modified_gmt":"2018-05-11T08:49:49","slug":"getting-busy-in-business","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/living\/getting-busy-in-business\/","title":{"rendered":"Getting busy in business"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Business Events Geelong (BEG) has recently launched a new ambassador program aimed at securing more conferences and meetings for the region.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Meet Geelong Ambassador Program engages influential leaders from key local industries to help identify potential business events for BEG to bid for.<\/p>\n<p>Convention bureau manager of BEG Mark Day said that the program hoped to assist the town in conjuring up more business event opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe new ambassador program will put Geelong in a position to increase our share of this lucrative market, which is currently worth $30 billion to the national economy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith the recent announcement of the Geelong Convention and Exhibition Centre, this is the perfect time for us to start bidding for larger pieces of business we\u2019ve previously not been able to. The ambassador program will open us up to these new opportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Business Events Geelong is the convention bureau for Geelong and Bellarine, which promote the region as a premium business events destination, assisting meeting and conference organisers to source venues and suppliers for their next business event.<\/p>\n<p>The first five ambassadors are Julie Hope (Deakin University), Keelie Hamilton (The Gordon), Ashley Clearihan (WorkSafe), Katie Hutchinson (Transport Accident Commission) and Bree Ford (TAC).<\/p>\n<p>BEG will continue to appoint further ambassadors to leverage off key industry sectors in Geelong.<\/p>\n<p>To find out more about the program, head to begeelong.com.au.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Business Events Geelong (BEG) has recently launched a new ambassador program aimed at securing more conferences and meetings for the region.
