THE fight for the top spot on the A1 ladder has resumed in the Bellarine Peninsula Cricket Association (BCPA), with the 2024-25 season returning at the weekend.<\/p>\n

With just five rounds left until finals begin, Anglesea is sitting in first on 42 points while Armstrong Creek are only three points behind in second.<\/p>\n

Anglesea have been strong contenders all season and will be looking to advance to the finals following a grand final loss in\u00a02023-24.<\/p>\n

Anglesea captain Dylan Tayor said he was happy with how the season had gone so far and was confident his team would make finals, as long as they continued playing well.<\/p>\n

“We’ve dropped one game, but we were pretty close, it went down to the wire – but apart from that, most things are going pretty well on and off field at the cricket club.<\/p>\n

“There’s still a fair way to go and still a bit to play out so we’ll take it one game at a time and see how things come over the next few weeks.”<\/p>\n

Taylor said A1 was a good competition at the moment and hoped the rest of the season would see Anglesea play how they wanted to as a team and as a club.<\/p>\n

Barwon Heads are in third position and have been consistent throughout the season, only suffering two losses, including to Anglesea on Saturday.<\/p>\n

“Barwon Heads are still a big threat, they’re one of the best sides in the comp, Armstrong Creek are also starting to find their groove at the moment, it’s definitely tight at the top,” Taylor said.<\/p>\n

The top four teams will continue to battle it out as Round 10 begins tomorrow (Saturday, January 18) when Armstrong Creek takes on Ocean Grove.<\/p>\n
