{"id":98498,"date":"2025-01-18T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-01-17T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=98498"},"modified":"2025-01-15T18:48:17","modified_gmt":"2025-01-15T07:48:17","slug":"bellarine-slsc-clubs-wrap-up-nippers-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/bellarine-slsc-clubs-wrap-up-nippers-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Bellarine SLSC clubs wrap up Nippers Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SURF life saving clubs across the Bellarine are wrapping up their 2024-2025 Nippers programs.<\/p>\n<p>BARWON Heads 13th Beach SLSC&#8217;s season finished earlier this month, working with young lifeguards to develop their skills.<\/p>\n<p>The recent week-long program welcomed more than 200 Nippers between the ages of five and 13, where they ran, swam and boarded on the beach.<\/p>\n<p>Running from December 28 until January 5, the Nippers were split up into age groups where they were then assisted by 24 Age Managers.<\/p>\n<p>Point Lonsdale SLSC&#8217;s Nipper Program also drew to a close on January 9, ending the season with the championships on January 10.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/01\/472611898_1835077240_92019.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"497\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Nippers programs are run during the summer through surf life saving clubs across Victoria.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ocean Grove SLSC ran three different programs for Nippers, an intensive six-week session which wrapped up at the start of February and a Core Sunday and Surf Sport program which will run until February.<\/p>\n<p>Nippers programs are run at surf life saving clubs across Victoria throughout summer.<\/p>\n<p>The program aims to reach a number of goals including developing surf and inland waterway awareness, encourage enjoyable and healthy participation, promote a positive non-threatening environment and more.<\/p>\n<p>The state has more than 10,500 Nippers take to the beach for the program each year, preparing them to become future lifeguards.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SURF life saving clubs across the Bellarine are wrapping up their 2024-2025 Nippers programs.
