{"id":98580,"date":"2025-01-16T11:08:48","date_gmt":"2025-01-16T00:08:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/tones-and-i-brings-pop-up-show-to-torquay\/"},"modified":"2025-01-16T11:08:48","modified_gmt":"2025-01-16T00:08:48","slug":"tones-and-i-brings-pop-up-show-to-torquay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/tones-and-i-brings-pop-up-show-to-torquay\/","title":{"rendered":"Tones and I brings pop-up show to Torquay"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Australian singer-songwriter Tones and I will stop by the Torquay Hotel next week for an all-ages acoustic show as part of her <em>We Want Tones<\/em> tour series.<\/p>\n<p>The musician, who is best-known for her 2019 breakout hit <em>Dance Monkey<\/em>, has been hosting intimate pop-up gigs in small towns and venues across the country for several months, travelling to locations put forward by her fans.<\/p>\n<p>In a post on Facebook ahead of her pop-up performances in Townsville, Cairns and Harvey Bay in October last year, the artist said the series was motivated by a desire to hold onto her days as a busker.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s like holding onto a part of something that I thought I was losing, which is that connection I made when I was a busker,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBusking is something I would really struggle to be able to do again. So, this is my version of, you know, reconnecting with people and these shows are the epitome of connection.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s more special than a show; it\u2019s just whatever. We\u2019re in a room together and I ask \u2018What do you want me to sing?\u2019 and then they tell me and then I do it, and we chat and that\u2019s what it is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For Georgie Kovac, who has been leading the local effort to bring Tones and I to Torquay since September, the announcement is a dream come true.<\/p>\n<p>She celebrated the news on her Facebook page \u201cTones and I \u2013 Come to Torquay\u201d yesterday (Wednesday, January 15) with a simple post that read: \u201cWe did it\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The Torquay show will be held outside in Torquay Hotel\u2019s beer garden on Friday, January 24.<\/p>\n<p>Doors will open at 6pm, with Tones and I set to perform at 7pm.<\/p>\n<p>General admission tickets are on sale now via <a href=\"https:\/\/tickets.oztix.com.au\/outlet\/event\/fa918a98-f4d7-4322-b624-c81bd73549b3\">torquayhotel.com.au<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Australian singer-songwriter Tones and I will stop by the Torquay Hotel next week for an all-ages acoustic show as part of her We Want Tones tour series.
