GEELONG Cricket Club’s Under 15 girls’ side has gone back-to-back, taking out the 2025 Marg Jennings Cup against Prahran earlier in the week.<\/p>\n
The two teams took to the pitch at Kardinia Park on Tuesday, January 21, for the tournament’s grand final game.<\/p>\n
The match was close until the end, with the local team pulling off the win and scoring off the last ball, reaching a final score of 7\/167 to Prahran’s 8\/166.<\/p>\n
Coach Jess Field said one of the highlights from the intense game was the batting partnership at the end of the match.<\/p>\n
“Poppy Agg and Lily Shand, they both batted really well at the end and got a few boundaries to keep us in the game, which was really important.<\/p>\n
“We also had Erin Maloney who took four in our bowling innings, which was unreal as well.”<\/p>\n
The Marg Jennings Cup is an Under 15’s female tournament run through Victorian Premier Cricket as a pathway for young cricketers into competitions.<\/p>\n
Both teams went into Tuesday’s match undefeated, with Field saying she knew Geelong was a strong team and was impressed with how they were developing each game.<\/p>\n
“We knew Prahran were going to be pretty tough competition. They had some really strong players in there and a competitive side.<\/p>\n
“I knew our girls, with their skill level, if it all went well on the day, we were definitely in the game to win it.”<\/p>\n
From the Marg Jennings Cup, Cricket Victoria will be looking at some of the players, putting names forward for squad selections.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
