Lake Weeroona Ward

Luke Martin

Occupation: Secretary of the Bendigo Trades Hall Council.

Resides: California Gully.

How long have you lived in your council?:

I was born and raised in Bendigo.

Community involvement: Secretary of the Bendigo Trades Hall for over eight years… I also volunteer as the President of the Bendigo Baseball Association.

Associated with a political party or movement?

Because of my values, I am both a member of the United Workers Union and the ALP. However, I am not endorsed by either and I am running as an independent. I have not and will not receive any assistance from my union or the ALP.

Preferencing: It’s just the two candidates so there is no need for preference deals.

Campaign budget? Receiving financial support?: My budget is $1000 but will most likely be a lot less. I have received some donations from community, family and friends.

Three most important issues in your ward?:

Providing services that people need. Council should be about service provision, not service management… Council needs to be transparent and accountable… Council also needs to provide assistance…through their sporting and community groups.
