FOR 150 years, Catherine McAuley College Bendigo (CMCB) has helped students gain the skills they need to thrive and serve in the real world.

Since 1876, The College has been faith-filled and shaped by the Mercy tradition of education and service, and in our sesquicentenary year we continue the legacy established by the pioneering Sisters of Mercy.

Today, CMCB remains committed to providing an outstanding Catholic education for families across Central Victoria.

A supportive and inclusive environment encourages students to become curious, lifelong learners, who thrive as they find their pathway to success.

By learning to research, design and adapt to real-world problems, students develop the strategies they need to help them navigate new challenges in their learning and life.

In junior and middle years, students experience learning that is inspiring, meaningful and connected. Strong foundations in English and Mathematics build essential literacy and numeracy skills that underpin all other learning areas. Specialist subject areas such as Physical Education, Languages, Science, Technology and the Arts offer practical and applied learning opportunities.

Sports Development Program expanding in 2027

In 2017, the Sport Development Program will continue to grow, offering football, netball and basketball streams for students in Years 7, 8 and 9. A former NBL head coach has been appointed to lead and enhance the new basketball stream.

The program, delivered during the school day, supports students to develop their skills, deepen their understanding of sport and contribute to their local community. Applications for the 2027 SDP open on 18 May and close on 10 June 2026.

3-year Senior Pathways

In the senior years, students can choose from a wide range of subjects and programs that lead to further study, apprenticeships and employment.

In Years 11 and 12, students work towards the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or the VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM). Most Year 10 students accelerate their learning, with more than fifty VCE, and Vocational Education and Training (VET) subjects available.

Partnerships play a vital role at CMCB, creating authentic learning experiences and improved facilities for students and the wider community.

Students interested in biology or agriculture can learn in a working agriculture space, while those exploring allied health and aged care participate in the iGEN inter-generational learning program with Mercy Health and Australian Catholic University.

Elevate Education’s high impact seminars and workshops further support students to build effective study habits, motivation, confidence, and lift exam performance.

The Careers Expo, Subject Selection events, and student-led conferences, help each student design a personalised pathway from Year 10 to Year 12. With guidance from families, teachers and community partners, students map out the pathway that best prepares them to succeed as a graduate, whether that leads to tertiary study, apprenticeships, or employment.
