Happy Education Week!
BENDIGO is such a wonderful place to live, work and raise a family, and there are so many fantastic local education options for students.
I am proud that my government is delivering upgrades to schools across our community, to give students, teachers and staff the amazing education facilities they deserve.
• At Huntly Primary School we’re delivering a $13.18 million upgrade that will create places for an additional 100 local children. As part of the upgrade, the school will have a new two-storey learning hub, refurbished administration building and landscaping works.
• We’re also upgrading White Hills Primary School to modernise the school and build a competition-grade gymnasium. This $9.23 million project will also feature a sports court and music and storage spaces, giving White Hills students better physical education and performing arts facilities.
• The $8.87 million upgrade at Bendigo Special Developmental School is now complete, with the school community enjoying new classrooms and modernised learning spaces.
• And Strathfieldsaye Primary School was recently granted $225,889 to improve accessibility for students, teachers and staff, with a complete rebuild of three ramps and a partial rebuild of two others.
To support busy working families, we’ve funded more outside school hours care services.
In the latest round of funding, primary schools in Axedale, Elmore, Eppalock and Goornong all received grants to continue their OSHC services, giving families the extra support they deserve.
We’ve also made life easier and more affordable for families by introducing free public transport for under-18s with the Youth myki.
If you haven’t ordered a Youth myki already, visit transport.vic.gov.au/news-and-resources/campaigns/travel-freeeeeeeee
