Ageing, disability expo at showgrounds
A BE Well Be Connected Expo for older adults and people living with a disability will take place at the Bendigo Exhibition Centre next week.
The event, which will be free to attend, will feature 80 exhibits showcasing products and services that support positive ageing and living well in the community for people with all types of disabilities.
It will run from 10am to 2pm on Wednesday 15 May. The exhibition centre is at the Prince of Wales Showgrounds in Holmes Road.
Expo visitors will be able to meet face-to-face with service providers, advisers and community groups.
A low-cost barbecue lunch also will be available, along with a sweet or savoury treat from the CWA, Coffee with a Cop, and local performers.
City of Greater Bendigo community partnerships manager Andie West said the city was hosting the expo to connect organisations, community groups and individuals with a network of available support and community activities.
“The theme Be Well Be Connected is important as it emphasises the importance of being well, connected and participating in the community,” Ms West said.
“It is a great opportunity to learn about what is on offer in our region and to assist older people and people living with a disability in our community to be more informed.”
Auslan interpreters and the Marveloo, a mobile accessible restroom for people with a disability and their carers, will be available on the day.
