AUTHOR, speaker, independent business advocate and former jewellery tycoon Samantha Wills is heading to Bendigo for one night only to speak about her entrepreneurial journey and how creativity has been key to her success.

Her visit is part of a nationwide tour to promote her first children’s book Marigold’s Magic Stars.

Wills said the key themes of the title revolve around the importance of creativity, self-belief, and the idea that there’s more than one way to be clever, with the main message being, you can’t spell smart without art.

“It also communicates that our unique gifts are valuable and worth nurturing,” she said. “At its core, the book celebrates the magic of following your heart and the stars that guide you.

“I wanted to create a story that (encourages) creativity, showing that there is a kind of intelligence in it if nurtured, especially when it doesn’t follow the conventional path.”

The premise, she said, is about the power of creativity, creative problem-solving, and the importance of listening to the inspirations and intuitions that guide us.

“It’s a reminder for children – and adults – that creativity isn’t time wasted with our heads in the clouds; it’s valuable, important, and full of potential if nurtured.”

In Conversation with Samantha Wills takes place on Thursday 28 November from 6pm at Mackenzie Quarters.

Tickets include a panel discussion and author talk followed by a book signing, drink on arrival, canapés and gift bag. Reserve a spot on the Oak Magazine website.
