LOOKING for something to do this weekend? Build your schedule around LEGO.

The Bendigo Bricks convention is back this weekend at the Bendigo Exhibition Centre, with 140 LEGO users set to exhibit impressive builds.

Bendigo LEGO User Group president Kara Harris said a diversity of displays are expected, set up by local and national builders, brick-by-brick.

“We have everything from trains to Bendigo buildings, the GBC or great ball contraption, where you can follow one ball around a whole maze, and even castles.

“A group of builders all get together and build a section of the GBC, and one ball travels throughout all their exhibits, which is awesome.

“I’ve built some Victorian buildings with pop culture references, like Sweeney Todd and The Muppets Christmas Carol.

“Our builders come from across Victoria, and interstate, with some from Tasmania, Sydney, and Adelaide.”

Ms Harris said more than 80 per cent of Bendigo LEGO User Group members are adults, so it’s not just a hobby for children.

“Bendigo Bricks is a fun day for everyone; all the family,” she said. “There’s something for everyone, for all ages.

“There’s no age limit, it’s for everyone to enjoy. You’re never too old for LEGO.”

A $5 donation lucky barrel will be set up with an aim to raise money for charity Fairy Bricks, which distributes LEGO sets to sick children in hospital.

Attendees can purchase food and coffee on site.

Bendigo Bricks is open 10am to 5pm on Saturday 6 April, and 10am to 4pm on Sunday 7 April.
