Big brands at great prices at upcoming pop-up market
A FREE budget-friendly market featuring rack upon rack of designer labels is coming to the Bendigo Exhibition Centre in North Bendigo on 8 February.
As well as more than 50 stallholders, the market will feature a clothing swap where participants can exchange their own garments between each other at no cost.
Other items for sale include shoes, accessories, handbags and even books.
There’ll be live music and food from local vendors on the day too.
Organiser Nimreichon Jamang of Second Chance Bendigo said her idea was to give stallholders the chance to sell pieces that they otherwise would find hard to sell.
“When it’s a very good brand, they’ve spent a lot of money purchasing that item. They were having difficulty offloading them,” she said.
“(So) many of the people that bring (things) to sell are selling Gucci, Balenciaga, Jacquemus, Acler and Zimmerman.”
She said with the cost of living crisis not abating, initiatives like this are important.
“It’s not taboo anymore to shop (for) and wear second-hand – a long time ago it was frowned upon.”
Ms Jamang added that supporting local markets is a way to inject money into local households.
“For example, if you come and shop from me, I’ll spend that money locally,” she said.
“It’s not going anywhere, it’s going to stay in the community.”
The Preloved Pop-Up Market by Second Chance Bendigo takes place at the Bendigo Exhibition Centre on 8 February from 10am to 4pm.
