Celebrated author to speak on new book
BESTSELLING contemporary fiction author Tricia Stringer has a new book out – Head for the Hills – and is due to visit Bendigo at the end of the month to promote it.
Stringer spent many years working as a teacher, librarian and IT coordinator, owned a post office and bookshop and worked part-time in another bookshop before pursuing writing full time.
She now sets herself the task of writing one book every year and said her writing process has evolved.
“I treat it as if I’m going out to work,” she said. “I don’t plot as such, but I do a lot of planning around my story.
“I like to say I write organically. I go where the characters take me, within the parameters of me having a fair idea of what the theme and the plot of the story is.”
She said the Bendigo event is a chance for her readers and those interested in writing to go behind the scenes.
“I’ll be talking to people about where I get my ideas from and providing some of the little anecdotes and stories that came out of my research for the book,” she said.
“I haven’t been to Bendigo for quite a while so I’m really excited to be coming back.
“The events that I’ve done so far have been a lot of fun. We’ve had some laughs and it’s been very relaxed, so I hope people will come along and enjoy it.”
Tricia Stringer: Head for the Hills takes place at Bendigo Library on Thursday 28 November from 5.30pm to 6.30pm. Reserve a seat via Eventbrite.
