Celebrated singer-songwriter set for sensational show

EMMY-nominated singer-songwriter and New York Times bestselling author Ben Folds will bring his Ben Folds & A Piano tour to Bendigo late next month, delivering an intimate live performance at Ulumbarra Theatre.

Armed with just a piano, Folds will perform a mix of past and current favourites while sharing stories drawn from more than three decades as a platinum-selling artist and the former frontman of Ben Folds Five.

As a solo performer, his catalog includes enduring tracks such as Rockin’ the Suburbs, The Luckiest, You Don’t Know Me and Still Fighting It, while his work with Ben Folds Five produced hits including Brick, Army, Philosophy, Underground, Kate, Song for the Dumped and One Angry Dwarf and 200 Solemn Faces.

Beyond the stage, Folds continues to create new music for film, television and theatre, with original compositions set to feature in a coming animated Peanuts special airing on Apple TV. He will be joined in Bendigo by guest Lindsey Kraft, a multi-faceted US artist, actor, singer and composer.

Kraft is best-known for her television roles in Netflix’s Grace and Frankie, HBO’s Getting On and more recently Netflix’s Obliterated, and has earned praise for her candid, piano-driven songwriting.

Speaking about the tour, Kraft said returning to Australia held special meaning.

“I never would have thought that after a stint studying abroad at UNSW for a semester in 2001 that I’d be back as a singer-songwriter sharing my songs with beautiful Australia,” she said.

“I’m beyond thrilled for this opportunity.

“Ben Folds’s fans are the best fans in the world!”

Ben Folds & A Piano Tour takes place on Friday 27 February at Ulumbarra Theatre, Bendigo.
