WINE buffs are invited to a tasting with a difference on Friday 11 October at Hop Supply Co in McCrae Street as part of Bendigo Wine Week.

The Turners Crossing Wine and Cheese School event at 4.30pm will feature half a dozen of the Halliday five-star rated winery’s new vintage wines paired with six Long Paddock cheeses.

Turners Crossing’s national sales manager Wayne Leicht said the tasting will include their Viognier 21, Rosé 21, Cabernet Sauvignon 19, Shiraz Viognier 19, the new Frederic Shiraz Cabernet 2021 and the premium La Crossing Shiraz.

“The six wines alone are worth the entry fee, let alone the cheese that we’re putting on,” he said.

A tutored tasting will have a back-to-school theme to add a bit of humour to the room.

“While people are having fun they learn a lot more,” he said.

Attendees don’t need any wine knowledge to come along.

“It’s a lot easier and they’ll enjoy it a lot more if they don’t think they know anything about wine,” he said.

“That’s why we call it a wine and cheese school.

“They can have no knowledge at all and hopefully they’ll walk away with a bit more of an idea.”
