MELBOURNE cabaret entertainer Margaret Dennis is coming to town to add a generous sprinkling of yuletide spirit to mid winter in a performance at the Bendigo Club.

Her Christmas in July show will include a bunch of popular carols – Silver Bells, Jingle Bell Rock, Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer, Santa Clause Is Coming to Town, I Saw Mummy Kissing Santa Claus, O Holy Night, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, and Santa Baby – as well as a few classic numbers as a bonus.

“The whole idea behind it is to get people singing along and there’s some people who might like to get up to dance, so of course I’m going to offer a little bit of variety as well,” Dennis said.

“So it might be a little bit of country, some rock and roll, or a little cabaret, just to keep the entertainment happening.

“But overall it’s reflective of a northern Christmas, which is what you see on the TV all of the time.

“This is why we can sing lyrics like, ‘the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful, and since there’s no place to go, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow’.”

Dennis’ Christmas in July show takes place at the Bendigo Club in Strathdale on Thursday 25 June from 11am.

Tickets are $15, which include morning tea, or $25 which also includes lunch.

Tickets can be purchased at the Bendigo Club reception. More information is available by calling 5443 0780.
