FOLKS are expected to come from near and far for a night of unbridled action and entertainment when the M5 Ringers Western Bendigo Pro Rodeo hoofs it into town on Saturday 18 January.

The traditional bucking bulls and broncos will headline the event, and barrel races and steer wrestling will also be on show, as well as a range of junior rodeo events for competitors aged 5 to 17.

Children will also be catered for with interactive rodeo-themed activities, while adults can grab something to eat and even a beer or two.

M5Rodeo ‘Boss Cowgirl’ Nicole McDonald said while a lot of people think rodeos are just about bull riding, there’s so much more to it than that.

“One of the key events we highlight is breakaway roping, which is the fastest equine women’s event in the world,” she said.

“We also run the full Junior Rodeo with the winners earning prize money which goes towards their standings.

“The competition will be fierce. The top 10 juniors in Australia will compete in the National Finals, and the winners of that series will earn a spot at the Junior World Finals in the USA.

“It’s a fantastic day out for families.

“We love coming to Bendigo. The support from the local community is amazing, and we always have a great crowd.”

The M5 Ringers Western Bendigo Pro Rodeo takes place at the Bendigo Showgrounds on Saturday 18 January from 3pm.

Tickets can be purchased on the Ticketbo website.
