CHILDREN’S entertainment favourite Emma Memma is returning to Bendigo in April with a brand-new live show – and families are being urged to book early.
The Emma Memma’s Jungle Picnic tour follows the release of her new album of the same name in late January and has already proved hugely popular with young audiences.
Emma Memma is the stage persona of performer Emma Watkins, best known to many families from her time as the Yellow Wiggle.
She said the new tour has been shaped by feedback calling for stronger storytelling alongside the music.
“[We] really wanted to make [the tour and album] more story focused,” she said.
“That was a big part of the feedback we’ve been receiving, wanting the children to go on an adventure.”
Watkins said the live show is designed to make children feel like active participants from the outset.
“This live show gives the children a chance to feel like we’re all going to go on the jungle picnic together,” she said.
“We’re encountering different problems, whether that’s an animal that may be quite scary or it might be that there’s a storm coming, there’s rain, there’s lightning.
“We’ll be able to play out those scenarios within the songs.”
Emma Memma’s Jungle Picnic tour swings into Ulumbarra Theatre on Saturday 18 April.
Tickets are available via Gotix.
As with all Emma Memma performances, the show will feature an Auslan interpreter positioned side-of-stage, interpreting both the music and storytelling throughout.
Families who require seating with a clear view of the interpreter are encouraged to contact the team ahead of time via [email protected]
