MUCH-admired Australian singer-songwriter Josh Pyke will visit Bendigo next Friday evening in celebration of the 20th anniversary of his debut album, Feeding The Wolves.
The album marked a defining moment for Pyke with tracks including the Middle of the Hill. Since then he has carved out a remarkable career, defined by introspective lyricism, and the unforgettable melodies and masterful storytelling of songs like The Summer and The Lighthouse Song.
“21 years ago I was working in a record store, chipping away at demos and dreaming of being a full-time musician,” he remembered.
“One year later I signed with Ivy League records, released Feeding the Wolves, and my entire life changed.
“I remember playing the Sydney leg of the Big Day Out in 2005 and seeing the crowd trickle in during my set until it was at capacity by the end.
“The same day Middle of the Hill entered the Hottest 100 at number 19, and I pretty much hit the road touring and never stopped.”
Looking back at what he recalls as a “wild time”, he said it’s only now that he can “reflect on it with a bit of distance”.
“This 20-year period has been the craziest whirlwind and the biggest adventure I could have imagined,” he said.
“I can’t wait to play the songs and tell the stories that kicked that adventure off to celebrate a career that I’m immensely grateful for, and incredibly proud of.”
Josh Pyke: Feeding the Wolves and Other Stories Regional Solo Tour 2026 comes to town next Friday 27 March at The Capital in View Street.
Tickets can be purchased on Gotix.
