AN album born out of the depths of COVID by local singer/songwriter Sherri Parry will be launched with flair tomorrow night at Studio 66 in High Street, with Parry and her team determined to go all out to make it an experience to remember.

The long player, Mosquito, which is now available on limited run 12″ red vinyl and CD, follows on from her previous two albums and exposes Parry as an increasingly mature artist, coming into her own with her sublime vocals and unique sense of artisanship.

Parry, who includes Björk, Amy Winehouse, Hayley Williams and Paramour as influences on her music and career, said the album is “light years” away from previous recordings.

“Everything that we’re playing (now) sounds completely different,” she said.

“It’s very polished.

“I recorded (it) in a home studio here in Bendigo with Tom Hadlow, my guitarist and producer.

“During COVID everyone felt quite lost and Tom decided to delve into the world of mixing, mastering and recording and everything that comes along with it,” Parry explained.

“The second I heard that I said, “Oh, okay, you’re mine. We’re working together”.

“It blossomed from there.”

She said the goal of tomorrow night’s event is “to have people remember this, have it be personal and affect them.”

“I’ve got a five piece band that’s going to back me (and) there’ll also be some additional musicians who are going to jump up on stage with us,” she said.

“It’s not going to be (just) another gig with flashy lights and loud music – we want to make a point of making whoever attends a part of the project itself.”

“It’s meant to be immersive and a moment that everyone who will be here is a crucial part of. It doesn’t work without the people coming, the people enjoying it, listening to it. I’m very excited.”

Sherri Parry’s Mosquito album launch takes place from 7pm tomorrow at Studio 66.
