Alex Ward (Have You Been Paying Attention?, Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala) appears on Friday 3 October at the Engine Room Theatre.

THE 2025 Bendigo Comedy Festival line-up has been announced with some of Australia’s best stand-ups on the bill, including Nazeem Hussain, Lizzy Hoo, Dilruk Jayasinha, Urvi Majumdar, Nick Capper and Alex Ward.

This year’s festival traverses two weeks at venues including the Engine Room Theatre in View Street, the Cambrian Hotel in Arnold Street, North Bendigo, the Black Swan Hotel in McCrae Street, and the Bendigo Library.

Festival producer Luke Morris said the unquestionably high standard of acts performing this year is because of the build up of trust his team has established with the comedy community since the first festival in 2018.

“There’s a bit of a network I suppose of industry people saying, ‘hey, Bendigo Comedy Festival is well run, they have good, supportive audiences and it’s worth doing’,” he said.

“I sometimes pinch myself at the people who accept because I’m aware that it’s not like going to the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, it’s not like going to Montreal, it’s coming to Bendigo.

“But they enjoy the fact that they have a good time, the audiences have a good time, it’s a win-win for everybody and I think that’s why they keep coming, because they know it’s not going to suck.

“They don’t have to worry about being sent into the backyard of a pub to stand on a milk crate.”

The 2025 Bendigo Comedy Festival runs from Wednesday 1 to Friday 10 October.
