Opportunity knocks for local talent

LOCAL emerging contemporary musicians and bands are being offered the chance to produce and present a one-off live performance at the Engine Room on View Street.
The opportunity is being delivered through this year’s Live on View program, which allows artists to stage a show at the venue free of charge.
The City of Greater Bendigo initiative is open to individual musicians and bands who live, work or study primarily in the region. As part of the program, the City will provide the venue, staffing, ticketing and marketing support at no cost to performers.
Successful applicants will keep all ticket-sale revenue and receive a full day of venue access – up to eight hours, including performance time – a multi-skilled technician, pre-event consultation with Bendigo Venues & Events staff, audio setup, a standard lighting rig and access to a projector and screen.
Each event will feature two 45-minute performance slots, either by a single act or shared between two performers.
Bendigo Venues & Events manager Julie Amos said the program continues to provide valuable on-stage experience for emerging artists.
“Live on View has proved successful since its launch last year and we know from feedback from talent that the program helps them to get gig-ready and they love playing at the Engine Room to a wider live audience,” Ms Amos said.
“Tickets are $10 each so residents and visitors can experience and support live performances from a range of local artists playing different genres.”
Applications for Live on View close Monday 9 February. For more information, visit the Bendigo Region website.
