ANOTHER home-grown international dance sensation is set to storm through town next week in the form of singing and tap dancing ensemble the Tap Pack.

The high-energy, all-ages, family-friendly production will feature music from Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr to Ed Sheeran, Michael Bublé and Beyoncé, and some of the best tap dancing in live theatre.

Co-founder, creative director and cast member Jordan Pollard said after creating the group 10 years ago to secure regular paid work with some fellow friends and performers, they’ve toured Australia multiple times, been to Berlin twice, China, America, and played on London’s West End.

“The response has been great. We’ve been super lucky to go all around the world with it. I guess there’s something kind of universal or primal within everyone that likes rhythms and beats,” he said.

“The show is 80 minutes long. Every guy sings, we all tap dance, we all throw hats around, we do cane tricks and slide around the stage. You can’t take a breath.”

Pollard said despite traveling the globe with the show, “there’s something (extra) awesome about Australian audiences.”

“They just get the kind of humor a little bit more,” he said.

“And we really encourage people to get involved, call out, heckle if they want, come on stage, bring their tap shoes, have a dance battle.”

See the spectacular Tap Pack show on Thursday 5 September from 7.30pm at Ulumbarra Theatre. Visit the Gotix website for tickets.
