Start New Year’s Eve with a splash at Golden Square Pool
GOLDEN Square Pool is the place to be on Tuesday 31 December for families looking to end the year in a laid-back community-run neighborhood oasis.
Starting at 5pm, the New Year’s Eve party will finish up by 8.30pm, in time to head into town or the nearby hills to view the early Bendigo fireworks at 9.15pm.
Golden Square Pool president and general manager Sam Kane said the popular annual event is a great opportunity for families and neighbours to get together in a relaxed environment, free from a ‘large party’ atmosphere.
Mr Kane said the fully supervised event will help raise much-needed money to pay for the pool’s operating costs.
“We’re a fully volunteer operated organisation,” he said.
“We rely on the support of our community to continue doing what we do, so events such as this are also great fundraisers for us to be able to ensure that we can open each and every day.
“We’re very grateful that our community enjoys the work that we do and come back year after year, so we encourage everybody to come on down and have a fun evening to bring in the new year.
“If it’s a hot night, it’ll be absolutely perfect.”
Families are encouraged to take a picnic to the alcohol-free event.
Normal entry prices apply and season pass holders can attend for free, and the venue will be open earlier in the day as per normal hours.
Further information is available on the pool’s Facebook page.
