Sustainable market to support people in need
SECOND Chance Bendigo’s next pop-up market will be supporting the Red Cross Shop Bendigo and Share the Dignity.
The Red Cross Op Shop will have stalls of second-hand clothes and donation bins for good quality items will also be available.
“I’ve always been community focused, and I’ve always wanted to do something for the community,” said organiser, Nimzy Jamang.
“I normally shop with the Red Cross Op Shop and the team are really nice and they are all volunteers.”
Donation bins will also be available for Share the Dignity’s ‘it’s in the bag’ campaign where community members are asked to pack an adult, teen or mum and baby essentials bag.
“It’s really important especially with how much scarcity there is at Christmas time,” said Ms Jamang.
“It’s helping vulnerable community members make their Christmas a bit special.”
Ms Jamang said the market provides the perfect opportunity for the community to purchase affordable, high-quality gifts.
“With Christmas time coming and the cost of living going up… by coming to the market people can save some money by getting things at a market price,” she said.
“At the same time, it’s putting the money back into the community.”
Gift vouchers from local businesses will also be hidden around the building for attendees to find.
The event is on Saturday 30 November and Sunday 1 December from 10am until 4pm at the Town Hall.
