THE ongoing View Street Amplified free concert series is back on the steps of the Capital Theatre tomorrow week with another stellar lineup poised to re-energise the precinct on what is hoped to be a sunny winter’s afternoon.

Central Victorian acoustic jazz-latin-pop fusion foursome the Sultry Sisters will be headlining, supported by Melbourne-based contemporary world music group the Royal High Jinx.

Local talent Louise MacGregor will open proceedings at 11am. She said while she has been singing and “annoying everyone” around her for her entire life, her relationship with the guitar since taking it up at 15 has been somewhat tricky.

“Guitars and I are nemeses, I have to work really hard at it, I really do,” she said.

“But, it’s also the best thing to have up your sleeve if you’re a singer.

“I would never have been able to write all my songs all these years if I hadn’t picked up one.

“I have a love-hate relationship with them.”

MacGregor, who will be joined by regular collaborator and fellow guitarist Sam Pollock on the day, said people coming along can expect an energetic show.

“We’re going to play mostly original songs and we’re going to try and keep it quite up because it’s out in the open,” she said.

“When Sam adds all his pedal magic, everything becomes a little bit atmospheric, but we’re going to choose some songs that are more upbeat.

“We’re also going to whack in a couple of our favourite covers just for the fun of it.”

The singer/songwriter encouraged everyone to “come and see the little locals performing before some really cool bigger acts from outside of town, because it’s a big day of awesome music”.

“I really want people to come out because it’s all going to be different,” she said.

“We’re nothing like the acts that are after us – there’s a little something for everybody and you also might get some crossing over of genres you may not necessarily have listened to before.

“I’m going to have some fun, I can’t wait to play in that spot.”

The View Street Amplified June edition takes place on Saturday 13 June from 11am outside the Capital Theatre in View Street.
