THIS year’s Girton Grammar School art exhibition – Aqua – is open for viewing at the iconic Beehive Building in Pall Mall from 11am to 4pm today (school community only), and will be accessible to the public tomorrow (9am to 4pm) and on Sunday (9am to 12pm).

The exhibition includes work from Girton’s Victorian Certificate of Education art and media students all the way down to its youngest artists in grade prep, with each student offering their own creative interpretation and demonstration of water.

Art Show director and Girton Grammar teacher Nic James said the event will feature an impressive array of artworks for everyone to enjoy.

“Water is essential to life, yet it takes countless forms – from gentle rain to powerful oceans, from ice to steam, from puddles to waterfalls,” she said.

“Our young artists have captured these diverse expressions through painting, ceramics, photography, printmaking, collage and film.

“Each artwork offers a unique perspective on this universal element. Some celebrate water’s beauty and tranquillity, others the creatures within it.

“Together, these works demonstrate the creativity and skill of our students across all year levels.

“We invite you to dive deep into these artistic waters and discover the remarkable talent that flows through our school community.”

In addition to the visual art on show, attendees on the morning of Saturday 13 September will be entertained with musical performances by Junior and Senior School students.

The Girton Grammar School Aqua art exhibition takes place from today at the Beehive Building in Pall Mall. Entry is free.
