IT’S time to get active for those living with dementia, their carers, and loved ones as the Bendigo Memory Walk and Jog returns to the Botanic Gardens this month.

Those setting off to take part in the annual event will be on-foot to raise funds for not-for-profit charity, Dementia Australia.

The fun run is part of a string of Memory Walk and Jog events across Australia with an aim to raise more than $2 million collectively.

“Memory Walk and Jog is about being part of the community and feeling supported,” a Dementia Australia spokesperson said. “We are in this together, which is why participants can walk, jog or run and select from our three-kilometre walk, a five-kilometre walk or jog, or a 10-kilometre timed run.

Whether participants run, shuffle or walk, all funds raised will go to Dementia Australia’s work as the country’s peak body for dementia support and education.

“Registrations for the Bendigo Memory Walk and Jog are still open and we’d love to see as many people as possible walking, jogging, or running at the Botanic Gardens.

“It’s a great day out, raising money and awareness for such an important cause. We are in this together.”

The 2024 Bendigo Memory Walk and Jog gets moving on Saturday 20 April from 8am at the Bendigo Botanic Gardens.

To walk or jog, to just donate, or to volunteer on the day, register at memorywalk.com.au, or those who can’t attend on the day but still wish to participate can visit bit.ly/3vA94o3.

Dementia Australia is the country’s peak dementia body providing services, information, and education to more than 421,000 people living with dementia, and the people who care for them.
