AHEAD of the release of her fourth album Hey Dawn in August, award-winning country musician Fanny Lumsden is returning to Bendigo.

The singer-songwriter will be live on stage in the Bendigo Bank Theatre at The Capital on Friday 28 July.

Hey Dawn will be released on the following Friday 4 August, and Lumsden said it was mostly written while she was driving around Australia.

“The overall theme of the record is those stories we tell ourselves, and how they shape us,” she said.

“I’m really excited for it to come out, I can’t wait, and if you loved the previous records, I’m sure that you’ll find something in there for you.”

Lumsden will have only just returned to Australia from the United Kingdom, after playing at the iconic Glastonbury Festival in June.

“It was one of those moments where you think, I don’t really know how this happened,” she said. “It was really amazing.

“The festival was monstrous, with over 200,000 people going, and so much going on. It was so overwhelming.

“We played early on the Friday. We thought no one had heard of us, but the tent was absolutely packed, and they were all right there for us, very gracious, did all the dance moves, cheered, and sang along.

“Now I look back on it, I’m so proud of my team and what we’ve done. We’ve worked our way slowly there. We’ve always been telling our stories our own way.”
