IT’S time for the whole family to Eggs-plore Bendigo these April school holidays.

The City of Greater Bendigo’s festival of Easter events and activities will run from Good Friday, 2 April, until Easter Monday, 5 April.

Carnival rides, traditional Chinese performances, Farmer Darryl’s petting zoo, events at the Discovery Science and Technology Centre, and the Rotary Art Show are accessible this year as COVID-safe alternatives to the traditional Easter Festival.

Carnival rides are one of the many attractions on offer.

City of Greater Bendigo mayor Cr Jen Alden said the offerings are diverse and low-cost for tourists and local families, so early planning is encouraged.

“All of these events are ticketed so you will need to book early to avoid disappointment. I encourage you to browse the program and book your tickets as soon as you can because tickets will not be available at the entrance to events on the day,” she said.

“Bendigo is very much open for business and we can’t wait to see everyone enjoying the many different activities and events on offer with Eggs-plore Bendigo at Easter at various locations across the city.

“Don’t forget, we will still need to keep our events COVID-safe, so please bring a mask, remember to practise good hand hygiene, maintain social distancing and stay home if you are feeling unwell.”

Kids will relish scavenger hunt and workshop opportunities, the Central Deborah Gold Mine will offer artisan activities, Bendigo Woodturners will have an exhibition, the Easter Book Fair will excite keen readers, and music and a movies will be enjoyed in the park.

The Mary Quant: Fashion Revolutionary show will be on at the Bendigo Art Gallery. Visits to the Golden Dragon Museum and other heritage attractions are also encouraged.

They are to be hosted in partnership with Bendigo TAFE, and are supported by Fosterville Gold and Gold Central Victoria.
