BENDIGO UFS Pharmacies has handed over the takings from its August community promotion with QV Skincare to the Bendigo Shower Truck – the equivalent of thousands of dollars in support.

The Shower Truck is a local service providing free hot showers and hygiene assistance to people experiencing homelessness or hardship two evenings per week.

During August, Bendigo UFS pledged to donate $1 from every QV product sold across its pharmacies and thanks to strong community support, this resulted in enough to provide 26 showers for people doing it tough in Bendigo.

Teams in-store played a significant role in the initiative’s success, with QV sales increasing by 25 per cent across the group.

Stand-out results came from the Health@Hargreaves team, led by Front of Pharmacy Coordinator Leanne Campbell, who drove a 229 per cent increase in QV sales compared to the previous month.

On top of the financial contribution, customers also donated almost $800 worth of shower essentials such as body wash, shampoo and deodorant via in-store collection bins.

To further boost the cause, QV donated more than $1700 worth of products, bringing the total product contribution to $2500.

Bendigo Shower Truck CEO Josh Wilkins welcomed the donations, commenting that his organisation was “blown away by the generosity of Bendigo UFS, QV and the local community.”

“These funds and products will have a real, immediate impact for people in need,” he said.

“Something as simple as a hot shower can restore dignity, hope and comfort to those doing it tough.”

The Bendigo Shower Truck operates on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5.30pm to 9pm at Rotary Gateway Park, 26 High Street Kangaroo Flat.
