CAN you tell the difference between a triangle, tree, and bridge pose, or does a downward-facing dog manoeuvre mean as much to you as a seated forward fold?

Find out what these moves are at the Bendigo Yoga Festival, which bends its way to Dudley House on Saturday, 29 and Sunday, 30 October.

It has a jam-packed program with embodied hatha flow, resonant sound, garba dance, and laughter yoga workshops.

Festival organiser Oliver Hamalainen said yoga has been traditionally an ancient practice of self-realisation, connecting mind and body, but today, most people think of the poses.

“It is a broad practice that includes chanting, meditation, breathwork and more,” he said.

“Physically, yoga is well known to promote relaxation, build strength and flexibility. Practicing yoga also calms the nervous system and reduces anxiety and stress.

“Regular practice brings mental clarity and a sense of wellbeing.”

He said festival attendees can look forward to two days of yoga, sound, community, and wellness across four spaces.

“There are too many highlights to list, so make sure you have a look at the program.

“Having said that, having Grammy award-winning yoga music artist Srimathumith come to Bendigo is pretty special,” he said.

“Come and try it out. The festival has many different styles and caters to all ability levels. There is something for everybody.” Visit bendigo.yogafestival.com.au.
