BENDIGO Foodshare will be holding its second book fair this AFL Grand Final long weekend after the success of last April’s.

The organisation’s first Bendigo Book Fair raised $48,000 for the local non-profit for insecurity charity.

Marketing and communications officer with Foodshare Toni Hastie said people are welcome to donate pre-loved books to the cause.

“We always need book donations, can never have too many books,” she said.

“The book donations are currently coming from community members. We have a bin at the YMCA Tom Tweed Stadium, just out the back, and it’s emptied all the time.

“The funds come straight back to Bendigo Foodshare and helps us with running costs, so like lights, electricity, purchasing some food, running events.”

The book fair will be held at YMCA Tom Tweed Stadium, Mundy Street, Bendigo, from 9am to 5pm on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 September, and from 9am to 1pm on Sunday 1 October.

The group is looking for volunteers to help with the event and sorting the books, both before and during the long weekend.
