KILLIECRANKIE Wines has the perfectly themed event for this Queens Birthday long weekend

The Bendigo winery is bringing its Killer Queen Weekend back for two days, celebrating the iconic British band.

“I just want to thank Queen for the long weekend. Little did I know it was the royal one, I always thought it was the band,” Killiecrankie Wines owner John Monteath said.

The Ravenswood winery held a similar event before COVID, with the idea of putting a fun event on in a relaxed environment, without having to cancel anything major if the weather turns.

“Our patrons bring their own camp chairs and food and we’ll have fire pits going and a PA system pumping out Queen on Saturday and Sunday, and we’ll have the bar happening as well,” Mr Monteath said.

“The last time we did it, one lady brought laminated words to the songs, she was right into it. By the end of the day there was lots of singing.

“It was sort of like a campfire where at the end of the day you’re singing words that are wrong and it’s just a whole lot of fun.”

Mr Monteath said his vision has always been to provide something entertaining and fun for vineyard visitors.

“It’s to get people to know our products, to know our brand and to know the people behind it as well,” he said. “It’s also good for our business to have people coming who may not normally go to a winery.”

There is no charge for the day, however spots must be booked at trybooking.com/BZMDT.
