A STAR studded, multi award winning line-up has been confirmed for the fast-approaching five-day Bendigo Comedy Festival.

It all kicks off on Wednesday, 12 October at the Engine Room Theatre on View Street with the Bendigo Comedy Festival 2022 Gala, set to be hosted by Melbourne funny man Daniel Connell and featuring Urvi Majumdar.

Audiences can also look forward to festival performances from winner of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2022 Directors Award Bronwyn Kuss, comedic singer/songwriter Jude Perl, locals Jim Hallawell and Mike Elliot, Melbourne Comedy Festival 2021 Best Newcomer Charlie Lewin and much, much more.

The carnival of wisecracks will be brought to a close at the Cambrian Hotel in North Bendigo on Sunday, 16 October with a live recording of the Dissecting a Frog podcast with Luke Morris, followed by an as-yet-unannounced celebrity act.

Festival committee member Ash Greblo, who will also be presenting his own show, The Big Diplodocus, on Thursday, 14 October, said variety was top of mind when the schedule was initially put together.

“We really wanted a mix of shows catering for all the different tastes in Bendigo,” he said.

“Luckily I think we’ve achieved that. There’s musical comedy, a full on stage show, some of the loosest Aussie blokes in Australia and even a show about science.”

Greblo said the inclusion of local acts “scattered throughout the festival” was also an essential element in keeping the event true to its surrounds.

“The comedy community in Bendigo is such a fun and welcoming group of people, you’d be crazy to not want them on your shows,” he said

“They’re the chicken salt to the whole festival, just that extra bit of flavour that you’d really miss if it wasn’t there.”
