Consultation for creative strategy
THE State Government is forming a creative industries strategy, and community members can give feedback at an in-person consultation session at The Capital on 25 August.
The next Creative State blueprint, which will guide investment in Victoria’s creative industries for the next three years, is due to be released in mid-to-late 2025.
Feedback from the Bendigo session will be collated to form part of the document.
Regional Arts Victoria is running the workshop in conjunction with Creative Victoria, and RAV CEO Jo Porter said being able to get a wide range of thoughts into the mix, rather than the policy being what people think might be going on from a city-based perspective or from another region, is essential.
“Regional Arts Victoria is involved because we support regionally based artists and creative organisations and we’re very keen to make sure that their voices are in the development of the policy,” she said.
“I think it’s important to communicate that the regions aren’t all one thing, there are lots of different people, opportunities, socioeconomic circumstances and educational options. There’s similarities but there’s remarkable differences as well.
“This is a great opportunity to have your say. It’s not that often that people are asked directly for their feedback and their ideas, so if someone’s been frustrated that they’re not being heard, this is their chance.”
