Dower Park sporting precinct upgraded
KANGAROO Flat football, netball and cricket players have had their facilities upgraded with a State Government funding package.
The $400,000 funding was put towards construction at Dower Park of a new multi-use cricket training facility and female-friendly changeroom.
State member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards said the upgrades, funded in partnership with the City of Greater Bendigo and Kangaroo Flat Football Netball and Cricket clubs, add to the popular precinct.
“Kangaroo Flat residents deserve appropriate facilities they can be proud of, and the new changerooms and training facility are much needed additions to this fantastic sports precinct,” she said.
“The new sports facilities will go a long way to inspiring even more locals to join in the fun and the Kangaroo Flat teams can also welcome more women and girls, train longer and compete at quality facilities.”
“Better facilities make it easier for Victorians to get back into local sport and recreation and live active and healthy lifestyles.”
The new cricket training area includes five nets that can be retracted for a variety of uses, while the changeroom can be accessed by both female players and umpires.
The precinct is also set for further upgrades, with two multi-use netball and tennis courts expected to be completed soon with $100,000 from the State Government’s Country Football and Netball Program.
