THE Bendigo Easter Fair returns this long weekend, bringing with it road closures, changes to public transport and COVID-19 protocols.

With a main focus on Rosalind Park and nearby streets, the four day event from Good Friday to Easter Monday has fun for the whole family, so here’s the nuts and bolts of what you need to know about getting there and around.

Street and laneways shutdowns are centred on the CBD, with Sidney Myer Place the first to shut as of yesterday morning.

Other closures include parts of View, Williamson, Bull, Mundy and Bridge Streets, as well as Pall Mall and Park Road.

North bound traffic detours are marked on High, Forest, Rowan, View and Barnard Streets or Chapel, Hargreaves, Baxter and Napier Streets.

South bound drivers can re-route via Barnard and Don Streets, while those coming from Napier Street or McIvor Highway can take Myers and Wills Streets to bypass the fair.

Roads will reopen at different times throughout the long weekend, the last of which by early Tuesday morning.

Bus diversions will affect 5, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, 55, 60, 61, 64 and 70 routes, with some stops to close from Friday to Monday.

Pet owners should be advised fireworks and firecrackers are scheduled on Saturday and Sunday.

While attendees don’t need to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination to get into the event precinct, specific activities may require it.

For more information, including frequently asked questions, visit the Bendigo Easter Fair website.
