Employment Expo to showcase local jobs
THE region’s jobseekers will be given a helping hand at the upcoming Heathcote Employment Expo.
GROW Bendigo, the City of Greater Bendigo, Jobs Victoria, Workforce Australia, Heathcote Health, and Heathcote Community House are joining forces to bring employers and potential employees together.
GROW Bendigo project manager Rob Murphy said the expo was a great chance for anyone looking for work to meet with prospective employers and learn about what they could offer.
“Importantly, in a period such as this, where there are shortages of appropriately skilled staff across a whole range of occupations, they are also a great way for employers to meet with a large number of qualified candidates in a short amount of time,” he said.
“The expo is designed to assist employers and jobseekers across the district, which includes Pyalong, Tooborac, Mia Mia, Redesdale, Toolleen, Graytown, Axedale, Goornong and Colbinabbin.
“Heathcote Community House will provide support to those small employers who may not otherwise have the resources to participate.”
Education providers will also be at the event to offer advice regarding learning and training opportunities, while recruitment specialists and agencies will provide information on what services they can deliver.
Heathcote Health CEO Dan Douglass said it was important to have the expo in Heathcote.
“This event provides a tremendous opportunity for local jobseekers from the Heathcote and district region to connect with local and regional employment and training providers and employers,” he said.
“We look forward to learning more about how we can support employment and training pathways for job seekers living in our sub-region.
The Heathcote employment expo is set for Tuesday, 2 May at Barrack Reserve, 126 High Street, Heathcote from 12–2pm.
