ABORIGINAL and Torres Strait Islander creatives are being invited to display their works at an upcoming NAIDOC Week art event.

The Knuldoorong Art Exhibition will show at Dudley House on View Street from 1 to 10 July and coincide with the national celebration of Australia’s Indigenous peoples.

City of Greater Bendigo creative communities arts officer Janet Bromley encouraged artists across a range of media to get involved in the showcase.

“Entries have opened to exhibit at the Knuldoorong Art Exhibition and First Nations artists and creatives of all ages are invited to apply either online or submit a hard copy form,” she said.

“The exhibition is part of NAIDOC Week and brings together artworks from local First Nations artists and creatives who specialise in a variety of disciplines such as painting, weaving, sculpture, prints, jewellery and photography.”

As well as adding to a program of events for the nationally significant week, Ms Bromley said the exhibition could also benefit artists.

“NAIDOC celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the Knuldoorong Art Exhibition is a wonderful opportunity for First Nations artists to showcase and share their artworks and culture with the wider community,” she said.

“Works can be bought directly from the artists, so this is a great way to support First Nations artists living and working in central Victoria.”

Entries close on Wednesday, 22 June and applications can be made online via bit.ly/3LwRCmm. Hard copy forms are also available by contacting 5434 6000.

The exhibition will be open from 11am to 4pm each day.
