THE Bendigo Showgrounds will come alive at night with their Twilight Markets scheduled for October, November and December.

Held for the first time late last year, executive officer of the Bendigo Agricultural Show Society, Ian Furze, said organisers were keen to bring the free evening events back.

“We’re looking forward to it immensely,” he said. “We had hoped to continue them throughout 2021 but unfortunately COVID restrictions affected our planning there.”

“We’ve decided that now’s the time to start them up again. I know all of the market stallholders, makers and producers around the area are keen to get their wares in front of their customers.

“We had a lot of items last year, particularly from local producers that make and grow their own products.

“It was a perfect venue for them to be able to then market those products, particularly in time for Christmas.”

As well as holiday-themed creations, attendees can also expect to find fashion items, accessories, jewellery and food products.

Food trucks and live entertainment will also be on site, with the market to be held outdoors at the main entrance of the Showgrounds.

The first event is scheduled from 4pm to 8pm next Wednesday, 27 October, in line with the Bendigo Cup.

“We’ve specifically targeted that day because people have got it off,” Mr Furze said. “We know that unfortunately people can’t go to the Bendigo Cup itself so it’s an opportunity for a night activity for people to do, particularly families.”

Two more Twilight Markets will be held on 17 November and 15 December and stallholders are encouraged to book a spot online at bendigoshow.org.au/market.
