THE City of Greater Bendigo is calling for expressions of interest from residents who can contribute to its Farming and Agribusiness Reference Group.

The Greater Bendigo region is home to a diverse range of farming and agribusiness enterprises, including broadacre cropping, livestock production, orchards and wineries, small scale agricultural production, as well as associated suppliers, logistics and business consultants.

“The aim of the City’s Farming Advisory Reference Group is to provide strategic input to the City on matters concerning farming, agribusiness and local rural communities,” COGB environment and climate change manager Michelle Wyatt said.

“The group will also act as a collaborative meeting place for agricultural stakeholders in Greater Bendigo.”

Ms Wyatt said the City is seeking up to ten community members to serve on the reference group, which will meet four times each year.

“(We’re) looking for people who have demonstrated experience in farming or agribusinesses in the City, can consider issues strategically and impartially and have the capacity to represent the views of the wider community.”

Expressions of interest, which can be submitted on the COGB website at bendigo.vic.gov.au/form/eoi-farming-and-agribusiness-grp, close on 19 September.

Applicants are required to briefly explain their experience in the agricultural industry and include any relevant previous work experience, interests or formal qualifications.

They’re also required to give one example of an issue they believe is important for the farming and agribusiness sector in Greater Bendigo and explain why it impacts this region specifically.

Questions regarding the group can be emailed to [email protected].
