AT Creswick Primary School, families will find the Kids Zone where children can learn circus skills, create their own music and perform on an open stage.

The venue will be free for children aged 12 and under who are accompanied by an adult.

“The Kids Zone basically has a full program from 10am until 5pm of activities and performances,” said festival associate director, Stella Savy. “There’s craft, magic workshops, a couple of fantastic performers coming to the Kids Zone just for the children.”

There will also be plenty of family friendly music and performances throughout the festival.

“On both the Saturday and the Sunday there’s lots of free, outdoor street performers like magicians and stilt walkers,” said Ms Savy.

“We’ve also got lots of live music happening like the MarimbaTaters coming up from Geelong and that’s very high energy.”

Ms Savy said it’s great to get children involved with and interested in music at a young age.

“It’s a smart thing to do because it helps so much development in their lives,” she said.

“Music has the kind of thing where you have to be in it together to make it work and we know that being involved music releases dopamine.”

Four legged friends are also welcome at outdoor events at the festival if they are on a lead and under control.

Support and therapy dogs are allowed at all locations within the festival.

“We love dogs at CresFest, and we know that our audience love their doggy friends too,” said Ms Savy.

“My daughter and I are planning to bring little Pickle along for the ride, she’ll be on a lead in the street.”

CresFest runs until Sunday 7 April. For the full program visit the CresFest website.
