Feedback sought on ageing action plan
CITY of Greater Bendigo staff are encouraging seniors and others to contribute to a new municipal positive ageing action plan.
The draft document includes a list of 31 planned actions the municipality would undertake between this year and 2025 to support seniors.
On the list are things like place-based exercise programs, awareness campaigns addressing elder abuse and ageism, promotion of lifelong learning and skills development, plus the coordination of an annual Victorian Seniors Week.
Director of healthy communities and environment Stacy Williams said the plan focuses on making life easier for older adults in the region.
“It also outlines the City’s commitment to older adults and guides the City’s work with older people in the community for the next two years,” she said.
“The City is committed to supporting older adults to age well and we want to hear from them and the wider community to learn what type of projects, events and support they’d like the City to be involved in.
“We want residents to tell us if we have got it right, what’s missing and how can this action plan be more inclusive.”
The action plan can be viewed on the City of Greater Bendigo’s website where there’s also an online survey available to submit feedback.
Hard copies of the survey can be found at municipal offices in Bendigo and Heathcote as well as local libraries.
Feedback is open until Friday, 17 March with responses going into a final reporter that’ll be presented to council later in the year.
