Four nods for Bendigo tourism
The Victorian Tourism Awards have a distinct Bendigo flavour, with the municipality nominated as a finalist in four categories.
The City is nominated for a Local Government Award for Tourism and its spring campaign Bloom is nominated in the Tourism and Marketing Campaign category.
The Bendigo Visitor Centre is a finalist in the Visitor Services Award and the Living Arts Space and the Uniquely Bendigo brand are nominated in the Tourism Retail and Hire category.
“This is wonderful recognition of how our staff and volunteers have been able to successfully pivot to create unique experiences and opportunities during the height of the pandemic,” City manager of tourism and events Terry Karamaloudis said.
“The Bloom campaign cleverly enticed people to be part of the tulip experiences even if they were unable to visit in person and Bendigo’s tulips have been shared far and wide.
“The Bendigo Visitor Centre’s staff and volunteers have been nominated for their outstanding customer service, our exhibitions at the Living Arts Space and our specially branded Uniquely Bendigo are very popular and valued by residents and visitors so these state nominations are well-deserved.”
The winners will be announced on the evening of Thursday, 3 February at Melbourne Town Hall.
