SNEAK a peek at what’s on offer in the upcoming Bendigo Open Studios program at a preview exhibition next weekend.

Almost every artist featuring in the Labour Day long weekend event will showcase a piece of their work at the Old Church on the Hill on Sunday, 27 February from 10am until 4pm.

BOS committee member Ian Dodd said the diverse exhibition could give people a taste of what’s to come in March.

“It’s to give people an idea of what’s going to be available, so we’ve got one piece of art from nearly all the artists,” he said.

“There will be a little bit of sculpture, watercolour, oil, acrylic, ceramics, all that sort of stuff.

“We will be doing demos on the hour, every hour so people can come and see what we actually do in our studios.”

The program was launched last year to allow for more opportunities to see local artists at work in their own spaces.

Almost 40 creatives are locked in to exhibit over the Labour Day long weekend, including at Valentine’s Antique Gallery and Bendigo Pottery, as well as their personal studios.

A map of the region marking each venue will be available at the preview exhibition for attendees to plan their long weekend journeys.

“People can get the maps, talk to the artists and then decide where they would like to go,” Mr Dodd said.

This year’s line-up includes painter Terry Jarvis, mixed media artist Sarah Wallace-Smith and street artist Mr Dimples, among many others.

The preview exhibition will be transferred to the Bendigo Bank Exhibit B space in the week leading up to Bendigo Open Studios for viewing.
